Hezbollah attacks Israeli base, scaling up tension
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Tension has increased between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah on Tuesday after the latter attacked an Israeli army base with explosive drones from Lebanon, saying it was a response to recent Israeli assassinations in Lebanon.
Hezbollah deputy leader Naim Qassem, said that the Iran-backed group has no interest in expanding war from Lebanon, “but if Israel expands it, the response is inevitable to the maximum extent required to deter Israel.”
An Israeli army spokesperson said a base in northern Israel was targeted in an aerial attack, adding that there has been no material damage or casualties.
Hezbollah said that the attack targeted the Israeli northern military command base in Safed, northern Israel, in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas’ official Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut, and the assassination of Hezbollah leader, Wisam Taweel.
