Government forces, HTS exchange shelling in NW Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Mutual shelling renewed on Saturday in the de-escalation zone in the countryside of Hama, Idlib and Aleppo, northwestern Syria, between Syrian government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), reportedly resulting in casualties on both sides.
Opposition media outlets reported that government forces targeted the city of Idlib, northwestern Syria, with phosphorus rockets, resulting in the injury of a child.
They added that the government shelling also struck the villages of Maarbalit and Fatterah in southern Idlib Governorate, as well as the town of Sarmin in eastern Idlib, causing several injuries among residents.
The also claimed that government forces shelled the village of Zakoom in northern Hama Governorate, in west central Syria, as well as the village of Kafr Taal in western Aleppo Governorate, northwestern Syria.
Meanwhile, HTS targeted a gathering of government forces with mortar shells in the woodland near the town of Khan Subul in southern Idlib, claiming causing injuries.
