Islamic Resistance in Iraq claims attacking 2 U.S. bases in Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced early on Saturday targeting two bases of the U.S.-led Global Coalition in Syria.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iranian-backed militias, said in a statement that they targeted a U.S. base in the town of Shaddadi in northeastern Syria, and al-Tanf U.S. garrison, on the Syrian-Iraqi border.
The statement added that the militia used drones to carry out the attacks and emphasized they will continue targeting U.S. bases.
The Iranian-backed Islamic Resistance has escalated its attacks on U.S. and Global Coalition bases in Syria and Iraq in response to the killing of senior Iranian-backed leaders in Iraq.
On Jan.4, the US military conducted an airstrike on the logistical headquarters of the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces in east of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, resulting in the killing of two prominent leaders from the Iranian-backed Harakat al-Nujaba militia.
