Unknown gunmen attack SDF posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen launched on Wednesday night violent attacks on posts and checkpoints of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, leaving casualties.

A military source of the SDF said gunmen attacked the SDF posts in Latwa neighborhood in the town of Diban in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, using machine guns and RPG-7. The attack led to intense clashes between the two parties forcing the attackers to withdraw towards areas under the control of the Syrian government forces in the west of the Euphrates River.

The source added that other attacks targeted SDF posts in the towns of Shuhail, al-Busayrah and al-Kassar in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The attack resulted in the injury of two SDF fighters.

Following the attacks, the SDF deployed patrols, set up checkpoints in the area, and imposed a security cordon on those towns until they were thoroughly cleared to pursue the attackers.
