War remnants claim lives of 252 civilians in Syria in 2023
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Explosions of war remnants in Syria have claimed the lives of hundreds of people in 2023.
The governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Hama and Homs were the most affected by the war remnants’ explosions, since the area was once controlled by the Islamic State group (ISIS) that planted thousands of mines.
Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press recorded the killing of 252 civilians including 80 children and 22 women.
It also recorded the injury of 272 civilians including 114 children and eight women.
In Deir ez-Zor, 111 civilians were killed including 33 children and nine women, and 92 were injured including 39 children and a woman.
Hama recorded the killing of 43 civilians including five children and four women, and the injury of 42 others including 10 children and two women.
In Homs, 25 civilians were killed including three women and one woman, and 30 others were injured including a woman and a child.
