Turkish airstrikes put power facilities out of service in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Energy Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Sunday that Turkish airstrikes conducted on Saturday night put most electricity generating facilities in northeastern Syria out of service.
The Energy Office stated, via its official account, that sub-stations and the Sweidiya gas plant in the countryside of Derik, far northeastern Syria, were put out of service due to Turkish airstrikes.
The statement pointed out that gas and oil facilities producing gas needed for the operation of power-generating turbines were out of service.
Turkish warplanes carried out several airstrikes targeting infrastructure and oil facilities in the countryside of the cities of Qamishli and Derik.
