206 suicide cases recorded in Syria during 2023

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syria has recorded 206 suicide cases between Jan. 1 until Nov. 30 of 2023.

The General Authority for Forensic Medicine in Damascus stated that it recorded 146 suicide cases, including 99 males and 47 females, in the areas controlled by the Syrian government.

The Director-General of the general authority, Zaher Haj, revealed to semi-official Sham FM Radio that suicide cases are distributed in government-held areas as follows: 28 in Aleppo, 24 in Rif Dimashq, 19 in Tartus, 19 in Latakia, 17 in Suwayda, 16 in Damascus, 11 in Hama, seven in Homs, four in Daraa, and one in Quneitra.

As for areas held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press recorded 24 cases.

In opposition-controlled territories, opposition media outlets reported 36 cases.
