Yazidi House receives young man kidnapped by ISIS
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Yazidi House in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, received a young Yazidi man from the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in Hasakah. He had been captured by ISIS during the attack on Sinjar (Shengal), Iraq, in August 2014.
The Yezidi House, a civil non-governmental organization, works to return the freed prisoners and kidnapped people in Syria to their families in coordination with the official authorities of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
According to a Facebook post by the Yazidi House, Rojin Hadeed Talal from the village of Hardan in Sinjar was handed over to them by Asayish forces. He had been freed and transferred from Idlib Governorate in northwestern Syria.
The Yazidi House had previously received 233 individuals, including 179 children and 54 women, after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) expelled ISIS from its last stronghold of the town of Baghuz in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
The statement said that Hadeed was captured by ISIS in Sinjar in 2014 and was later transported to various areas in northern Syria under ISIS control until he was transported to Idlib in 2019.
On Aug. 3, 2014, more than 6,000 Yazidis were abducted by ISIS during its attack on Sinjar, and over half of them remain missing, according to official figures.
The Yazidi House noted that Hadeed will stay in with them until officially handed over to his family through the Sinjar Council.
