Asayish arrest 14 drug users, sellers, dealers in Syria’s Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced the arrest of 14 drug users, sellers and dealers in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli, northeastern Syria.

On Oct. 27, the Asayish announced in a press conference the arrest of 42 smugglers, sellers, and dealers of narcotics in Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria.

The Asayish Media Center said in a statement that the operation, titled ‘The Campaign of Revenge for the Martyrs of the Anti-Narcotics Forces’, came in tribute to the 29 Anti-Narcotics members who were killed in a Turkish airstrike on Oct. 9 of a military academy near the city of Derik, far-northeastern Syria.

The Asayish seized a quantity of drugs during the campaign: 1,774 various narcotic pills, 700 captagon pills, 10 grams of crystal meth, 2.6 kilograms of hashish paste, 455 grams of hashish seeds, four and a half bags of hashish, and a scale. In addition, they seized 175 AK-47 bullets, eighty 23-mm bullets, 12 pistol rounds, 10 bladed weapons, and nine portable devices.

The Asayish added that their forces transferred the seized items to the concerned authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
