Expert speculates Iran behind targeting US base in NE Syria

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Ahmad Rahal, a military expert, suggested on Monday that Iran is likely responsible for targeting the US Tel Baydar garrison in the countryside of the Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria, on Sunday.

US forces downed on Sunday a one-way attack drone after getting close to the garrison. A military source operating with the US-led Global Coalition told North Press that the drone came from areas under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in the northern countryside of Hasakah.

Hours after the attack, the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack.

Rahal told North Press that an Iranian drone most likely carried out the attack, but US forces do not want to acknowledge that.

The military expert justified the US does not want to engage in clashes or expand the war simmering in Gaza.
