Turkey deports 550 Syrian refugees to northern Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday,the Turkish authorities deported 550 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through Bab al-Salama, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Hawa border crossings in northern Syria.
Over the past week, the number of deported people from Turkey to Syria exceeded 3,300, including Iraqis.
Sources within the administrations of the Bab al-Salama, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Hawa crossings stated to North Press that Turkish authorities deported over 550 Syrian refugees, and handed them over to factions of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).
A source at Tel Abyad crossing in northern Raqqa stated that over 100 refugees were handed over from the Turkey to SNA at the crossing. They were then taken to shelters to be investigated.
Furthermore, 190 refugees, mostly women and children, were handed over to the Military Police of the SNA at the Bab al-Salama crossing in northern Aleppo. They were transferred to shelters for further security investigation.
On the other hand, 250 refugees, including women and children, were handed over to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) through the Bab al-Hawa crossing, according to a source at the crossing.
The sources noted that the deportations were carried out after Turkish authorities took all the identification documents, finger prints and iris scans of the deportees to guarantee they would not return to Turkey.
