Man killed, four wounded in landmine blast in Syria’s Manbij

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – One man was killed and four others were wounded on Tuesday in a landmine explosion while trying to defuse it on the road to the Tishrin Dam in southern Manbij, northern Syria.

A security source told North Press that after receiving information about the presence of a mine, the demining team headed to the location.

The explosion resulted in the killing of one person from the demining team who was trying to defuse the mine, and the injury of four others with mild and light wounds, the source added.

The cause of the explosion is unknown, whether it was a result of the defusing attempt or if someone detonated it remotely. The security authorities have not commented on the incident yet.

On August 26, four children were killed in a landmine explosion in the village of Qart Weran in the western countryside of Manbij.

In September, the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented the killing of 18 individuals by remnants of war, including a woman, two children, four men and 11 military personnel, and the injury of 22 people, including eight children, six men and eight military personnel.
