Lebanese Iran-backed leader threatens US in Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Lebanese Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, threatened the American forces in Syria of possible widespread conflict.

He warned of any military escalation in eastern Euphrates of Syria that may lead to a regional or international conflict.

In a televised speech, Nasrallah accused the United States (US) of escalating the military operations in eastern Syria to guarantee its control of the oil fields.

He went further and said that the US prevents the return of the Syrian oil to Damascus, accusing the US of destabilizing the situation to prolong “its occupation of the areas containing the oil fields,” as he described.

The Hezbollah leader claimed that the Syrian government forces with their allies would “easily liberate eastern Euphrates” in a battle that it would be against the “Americans” not the Kurds or the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

“The battle will fundamentally change the balance of powers in the Middle East,” Nasrallah said.

There are 900 American soldiers in Northeast Syria that support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the fight against ISIS.

As for unconfirmed news about the US desire to close the Syrian-Iraqi border, Nasrallah said “they are mere illusions” and that they would never permit that.

Hassan Nasrallah indicated that the US is the party that prevents any solutions between the Kurds and the Syrian government.
