DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Russian battleships docked in the Syrian coast targeted on Saturday late at night an Islamic State (ISIS) hideout deep in the Syrian Desert, central Syria, following a recent attack against the Syrian government forces.
The Russian news agency Sputnik Arabic reported, citing a field source, that the attack was conducted through launching a group of precision-strike missiles, which resulted in the destruction of an ISIS hideout located in the desert between the governorates of Hama, central west Syria, and Homs, central the country, after Saturday midnight.
The attack came less than 48 hours after ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack against buses of the government forces in the desert of al-Mayadin in eastern Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. The attack killed 40 Syrian soldiers and wounded more than 10 others.
The attack was carried out “based upon accurate intelligence along with extensive reconnaissance operations conducted by Russian air forces,” the source added.
“The concentrated missile attack was done through the platforms of one of the Russian battleships located across the Syrian coast,” he stressed.
