HTS arrests 6 of its own members in northern Idlib for “espionage”

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) unleashed relentless raids in Sarmada and Atme, northern Idlib in northwestern Syria, against its members to root out those it accuses of espionage.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told North Press that HTS arrested four security members in the Western neighborhood and slums in Sarmada and two others in Atme on charges of espionage for the US-led Coalition.

This operation of the HTS targeted 17 members in the aforementioned areas, of them six were captured while others managed to escape, the source added.

On June 18, HTS launched a campaign to pursue members it accuses of collaborating with the Coalition. To date, more than 385 members have been arrested, including high-ranking officials and leaders close to Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the overall leader of HTS.
