SNA imposes fines on Syrians trying to cross into Turkey
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), imposed royalties on Syrians who attempted to cross into Turkey after being beaten by Turkish border guards.
On Friday, Turkish border guards assaulted a group of Syrians while trying to cross the Syrian-Turkish border in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo, northwest Syria.
Locals sources told North Press that Turkish border guards beat about 25 people, including women and children, after arresting them while trying to cross the border near the village of Nasriye, west of the town of Jindires in the Afrin countryside.
The border guards assaulted and beat the whole group using iron pipes, causing bruises in many men. They also detained the group for hours and then handed them over to the military police of the SNA, the sources added.
The sources said that the military police imposed 250 Turkish liras per person as a fine in return for their release and forced them to sign pledges not to try to cross into Turkish territory again.
The Turkish border guards continue their aggressive practices against Syrians, who want to cross into Turkey seeking a better future.
