ISIS injures 4 SDF fighters in Syria’s Hasakah

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility over targeting a military vehicle of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town south of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency said, in a statement, that its militants targeted the vehicle in an IED on the route of the village of Umm al-Madafe’, in the town of al-Shadadi, south of Hasakah.

The attack resulted in the injury of four militants and material damage to the vehicle, according to the statement.

Two days ago, ISIS claimed responsibility over targeting a military vehicle of the SDF in al-Shadadi, injuring one fighter.

ISIS lost its final stronghold in Syria in March 2019. The SDF, with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, defeated ISIS after fierce battles in the town of Baghouz in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, bringing an end to the so-called caliphate declared by the terrorist ISIS.

After Baghouz, thousands of ISIS militants were transferred to prisons, while their families were transferred to Hawl and Roj camps in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.
