Three members of SNA faction killed in Aleppo’s al-Rai
AL-Bab, Syria (North Press) — Three militants of the Sultan Murad faction, affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), were killed on Saturday by the SNA’s Military Police near the town of al-Rai in northern Aleppo.
An exclusive source told North Press that a military group affiliated with Sultan Murad had defected from the faction due to a dispute over delayed salaries.
This delay in paying SNA members, whose salaries come from Turkey, was attributed to the approach of Turkish elections, set to kick off tomorrow, May 28, according to the source.
The source added that the names of the defected group, led by Hamza Shaker, were circulated by the Sultan Murad, which later led to a clashes between a Military Police checkpoint near al-Rai and the group.
The source said that the clashes resulted in killing three members and injuring two others of the group. The rest were arrested and transferred to the Military Police prison in the city of al-Bab, east of Aleppo.
One of the killed militants was from the town of al-Tawameh and another hailed from the town of Kafr Nouran in western Aleppo.
As for the injured, one of them was severely wounded, so he was transported to a hospital in Turkey, while the other was taken to al-Rai Hospital after sustaining a foot injury, according to the source.
The city of al-Bab and its countryside has been under the control of SNA factions since 2017.
