Syria’s AANES makes changes in Executive Council
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) Abd Hamed al-Mehbash submitted on Tuesday his resignation to the General Council of the administration.
The General Council accepted the resignation during its 77th regular session with the approval of 49 people.
The council elected Hussein Othman a new co-chair for the Executive Council to succeed al-Mehbash.
Othman, who hails from the city of Manbij, north Syria, is a graduate from the Faculty of Political Science in Damascus University and specialized in international law.
The new co-chair operated in the legal committee of the Legislative Council in Manbij.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.
