Israel targets government forces in Syria’s Quneitra
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces targeted on Tuesday a military post of the Syrian government forces in the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that “Israeli forces targeted with several rockets the post of the Seventh Corps of the government forces.”
The source noted that the attack came after a visit of “Iranian military figures and others from Hezbollah. The post was used to observe the border on al-Jolan heights.”
This is not the first time attacks occurred on the post, which is less than 2km far from the al-Jolan heights, according to sources.
Over the past two years, Israeli aircrafts dropped leaflets warning government forces from dealing with Iran and Hezbollah, particularly the 7th Corps.
On November 19, 2020, Israeli planes attacked the office of Brigadier General Akram Ahmad Hawija, commander of the 7th Corps, near the town of Zakiya in Rif Dimashq a month after throwing leaflets warning him of dealing with Iran and Hezbollah.
Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes inside Syria over the past few years, targeting what it says to be Iranian-backed militia’s strongholds.
