Iraq asks US to encourage repatriating nationals from Syria’s Hawl
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji implored on Thursday the United States to encourage its allies to repatriate their nationals from Hawl Camp in Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.
Al-Araji’s remarks came during a meeting with the US ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, Shafaq News reported.
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians, and 8.254 foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
The national security adviser hinted that several countries have already repatriated their nationals, but Iraq still awaits the remaining nations to follow suit, according to the source.
In turn, Romanowski said that her country will spare no effort to ensure that the international community collaborates to resolve the problem of Hawl Camp and expedite the repatriation of foreign nationals who reside there.
