2 soldiers wounded in Israeli airstrike near Damascus
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two Syrian soldiers were wounded on Thursday at dawn in an Israeli missile strike near the capital Damascus.
“At about 00:22 a.m. Thursday at dawn, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with waves of missiles from the direction of occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points near Damascus and its surroundings,” state-run SANA News Agency stated.
The Syrian air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed most of them, the statement added.
SANA cited a military source as saying that the airstrike wounded two soldiers, and resulted in material damages.
On March 22, an Israeli airstrike targeted Aleppo International Airport, northern Syria, causing material damages to the airport and putting it out of service.
Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes inside Syria over the past few years, targeting what it says to be Iranian-backed militia’s strongholds.
