SDF arrests 3 ISIS members in Syria’s Raqqa – Coalition says
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested three members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Raqqa, northern Syria, on March 10, the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS said on Friday.
In a release, the Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force – Levant (SOJTF – Levant) said the SDF led two successful unilateral operations “to capture and detain three ISIS operatives” in Raqqa on March 10.
The SDF, supported and advised by the Coalition forces, managed to arrest Hussein Khalil al-Hussein, a known ISIS operative, Abduljabbar Imad Mukhlif, an ISIS cell leader, and Khaled Thamer Muhammad al-Rawi, a known ISIS aid facilitator.
“The SDF’s ability to plan and execute complex operations in the ar-Raqqa region is integral to our shared goals in the enduring defeat of ISIS,” said US Air Force Brig. Gen. Claude Tudor, SOJTF – Levant commander.
The release concluded that the Coalition forces remain steadfast, assisting and enabling the SDF in maintaining security and stability throughout the region.
The SDF continues launching its non-stop operations to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in north and east Syria.
Last week, the SDF arrested an ISIS member who was responsible for “providing the terrorist cells of ISIS with intelligence for planning terrorist acts” to hit the state of safety and stability the region is maintaining, according to the SDF Media Center.
