Fire breaks out in Foreigners Sector at Syria’s Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the al-Muhajirat (foreigners) sector at Hawl camp east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, causing material damage, but no human casualties.
An exclusive source told North Press that “a fire broke out in the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) point at the foreigners’ sector.”
The NRC is an NGO that provides many services in the camp, as it has a special office for legal advice, in addition to providing water distribution to camp residents as well as educational services.
The foreigners’ sector at the Hawl holds Islamic State (ISIS) women from foreign nationalities who still consider themselves responsible for the implementation of the group’s ideology.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. There were no human casualties, only material damage.
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians, and 8.254 foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
