UAE continues to support Syria notably on health arena
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Minister of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates Abdul Rahman Al-Owais said in a statement following his tour of areas affected by quake in the Syrian coastal city of Jableh on Tuesday that his country continues to support Syria notably in the health arena following the disastrous earthquake hit the country on February 6.
The UAE official said, “The quake has been a challenge not only for Syria but for humanity at large. We hope to have a unified stance worldwide. The UAE would participate in this relation.”
Al-Owais noted there is ongoing support to help people in Syria in line with directives of President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
UAE’s health Minister indicated they are considering to form a team of physicians, technicians and health specialists to study the situation in Syria and consider what the UAE could render not in this phase alone but rather in the coming period too.
On Tuesday, the UAE official, accompanied by a delegation, arrived at Latakia with a medical team onboard a plane loaded with 46 tons of relief aid for people hit by the quake, according to Syria’s state-run SANA news agency.
