Two Iranian-backed militants killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, two militants of the Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun were killed when a landmine exploded, likely a remnant of the Islamic State (ISIS), in a town in eastern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, east Syria.
A military source in the Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun told North Press that two of its militants were killed after a landmine exploded when their motorcycle passed over it in the outskirts of al-Quriyah desert in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Both Ahmad al-Hadidi, 27, and Hamad al-Jarrad, 30, were killed in the explosion.
Since 2017, the Syrian government forces have been combing the desert in response to ISIS increasing practices that have caused the forces massive human and material losses.
