Egyptian Rescue Team Enters Jindires in Syria’s Afrin
Afrin, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, an Egyptian technical team arrived in the Jindires district of Afrin, northwest Syria, to search for people trapped under the rubble caused by the destructive earthquake that hit the region.
At dawn on Monday, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Turkey, killing thousands and injuring much more. The earthquake also caused immense destruction of buildings, trapping thousands under the rubble.
A local source told North Press that a medical staff accompanied the Egyptian technical team to join in efforts to rescue people trapped under the rubble.
A group of the Egyptian team will in all likelihood be sent to regions in Idlib to join the rescue operations and provide medical assistance, according to the source.
Search operations for survivors are still ongoing across Syria.
