Child killed, 2 wounded in landmine blast in Deir ez-Zor countryside
DIER EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A child was killed and two others were wounded on Sunday in a landmine blast, likely left by the Islamic State (ISIS), at the town of Ayyash, 5km east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source told North Press, “13-year-old child Ahmed Nasser lost his life and two other children of his friends were wounded in a landmine explosion while they were playing near a deserted building in the center of the town.”
“The wounded children were taken to a hospital in Deir ez-Zor, and they are in a critical condition due to receiving many shrapnel in their bodies,” the source added, citing a doctor at the hospital as saying.
Since the beginning of January, four children in Deir ez-Zor lost their lives due to war remnants, three of whom in the areas held by the Syrian government. In addition, seven were wounded, five of them in the government-controlled areas in Deir ez-Zor.
