US troops capture 2 ISIS militants in joint operation east Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two Islamic State (ISIS) militants and an associate were captured on Jan. 21in a joint “helicopter and ground raid” in eastern Syria, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday.
This came in a news release by the CENTCOM, in which it said in a joint raid with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) the two ISIS militants Abdallah Hamid Muslih al-Maddad AKA Abu Hamza al-Suri, an ISIS facilitator, Husam Hamid al-Muslih al-Maddad al-Khayr, ISIS facilitator and logistician, and an associate were captured.
The statement added that a civilian was slightly injured during the operation and was transferred to a “nearby medical care facility.”
Colonel Joe Buccino, a CENTCOM spokesman said, “This operation reaffirms CENTCOM’s steadfast commitment to the region and the enduring defeat of ISIS.”
He stressed this operation will curb “the terrorist organization’s ability” to attack and threat security and stability of the region.
He reaffirmed that joint operations with the SDF against ISIS continue.
The CENTCOM spokesman concluded that ISIS is a threat to “our partners,” and to the people in Syria and Iraq.
