QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Thousands of Kurds from different parts of Europe headed on Tuesday to Paris to participate in the funeral of three Kurdish people who were killed in an armed attack in the French capital last month.
On Dec. 23, 2022, a 69-year-old gunman opened fire in a Kurdish community center in the 10th district of Paris killing three people and wounding three others.
The shooter was charged with murder, attempted murder, and unauthorized procurement of weapons. The attacker told prosecutors that he has “pathological hatred” for non-European foreigners.
France’s Kurdish community points fingers at Turkey of orchestrating the attack, especially as 10 years ago a Turkish man – believed to have connections to Turkey’s secret services – shot and killed three Kurdish activists in the same district in the French capital.
Police were deployed to protect mourners who were chanting “Martyrs live forever”, as a huge crowd followed the funeral on giant screens erected in the car park.
