SDF captures 2 ISIS militants in NE_Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced they captured two members of the sleeper cells of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on the seventh day of al-Jazeera Thunderbolt Operation”.
The “al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” Operation was launched on Dec. 29, 2022, by the SDF, with the participation of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), and in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in the areas of Hawl and Tel Hamis in Hasakah and Qamishli countryside.
In a statement released on its website, the SDF Media Center their forces swept the villages of Rabia, Taghlib Fawqani, Taghlib Tahtani, and Malutha in the countryside of Tel Hamis, in addition to the roads linking Hawl Camp, Tel Hamis, and the Syrian-Iraqi border area along 40 km.
An ISIS-affiliated militant in a cell who used to extort people in the region in the favor of ISIS was arrested in possession of arms and ammunition. Another ISIS member was also arrested, according to the statement.
The statement pointed out that the SDF seized “many weapons concealed by ISIS cells in the civilian farms and unauthorized military uniforms used for camouflage.”
In the same relation, SDF stated that Counter-Terrorism Units arrested three ISIS militants in Deir ez-Zor and confiscated a number of arms, military equipment, and communication devices.
