Asayish headquarters in Syria’s Raqqa undergoes armed attack
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) headquarters was subjected to an armed attack amid security alert in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.
A security source told North Press an armed group attacked the Asayish headquarters and targeted security members with machineguns.
The source added that the city witnessed security alert and persisting bursts of gunfire.
It expected that the armed group has links with Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
The attack resulted in the injury of a number of Asayish members amid warnings of moves by the radical ISIS sleeper cells, according to the same source.
North Press correspondent in Raqqa said the Asayish sealed off the main routes in the city center.
So far, the Asayish have not commented on the incident.
