Israeli airstrikes kill, wound soldiers in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A number of soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed and wounded on Tuesday in Israeli airstrikes targeting a site in Rif Dimashq.
“The Syrian army air defenses have repelled Israeli missile aggression that targeted some sites in Damascus vicinity,” the state-run SANA News Agency reported.
SANA cited a military source as saying, “At about 12:30 a.m., the Israeli enemy launched an aerial act of aggression with waves of missiles from the northeastern direction of Lake Tiberias, targeting some sites in the vicinity of Damascus City.”
SANA claimed that the Syrian government’s air defense systems had shot down some of the Israeli missiles.
SANA reported that two army personnel were injured in the attacks as well as material damages were reported.
Syrian media outlets published footages showing Syrian air defenses intercepting missiles in Rif Dimashq.
“Two unidentified gunmen, likely to belong to Lebanese Hezbollah, were killed due to the Israeli attacks near Damascus International Airport,” Syrian Observatory for Human Right (SOHR) reported.
A Hezbollah warehouse, containing weapons and logistic materials in a farm located between Saida Zainab and al-Bajdaliyah, were targeted and destroyed completely during the airstrikes, as well as casualties were reported in the site, SOHR reported.
Israel shelled four missiles on positions of Iranian militias in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport and farms in al-Saida Zainab area in Rif Dimashq, according to SOHR.
SOHR documented 32nd Israeli airstrikes and ground rocket attacks since the beginning of 2022.
SOHR further explained that Israel targeted in these attacks different positions in Syria, nearly 90 targets, including buildings, warehouses, headquarters, centres, and vehicles.
About 85 military personnel were killed in these attacks, 115 others were wounded, as well as 23 civilians were wounded including children and women, according to SOHR.
