SDF denies involvement in Istanbul bombing

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) denied on Monday its involvement in the bombing that took place in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Sunday, following accusations by Turkey that the SDF was behind it.

A source of the SDF leadership told North Press that the accusations are baseless, as everyone knows the military formation of the SDF forces and their tasks which are limited to fighting terrorism and protecting Syrian areas.

Earlier on Monday, Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu rejected US condolences over the death of six people in a bomb attack in Istanbul.

“We do not accept the US embassy’s message of condolences. We reject it,” Soylu said in televised comments.

Soylu hinted that the US indirectly supports the implementers of the bomb attack, he said, “We know where the attack was coordinated. We received the message given to us and we know what the message was.”

In early October, Soylu accused the US of planning to target a post of Turkish police.

At the time, the Turkish minister claimed that two female attackers had moved before the attack at night from the Syrian city of Manbij, through motorized parachutes, and after flying for about 13 hours, the two parachutes landed on the coast of the Turkish city of Tarsus, adjacent to Mersin.
