Film by Syrian Kurdish director to be displayed in Jordan

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – For the first six days of November, the narrative film “Neighbors” by a Kurdish-Swiss film director citizen of Syria, Mano Khalil, will be displayed in Jordan.

The film won more than 50 international awards in several festivals, and will be presented at the Rainbow Theatre in the Jordanian capital Amman.

On October 27, the director wrote on his Facebook page that the film won the Jury Prize for Best International Film at the Meta International Festival in Dubai.

Neighbors is directed and written by Mano Khalil and starred by  Saehed Khalil, Jalal al-Tawil, Jay Abdo and Mazen al-Natour.

The film was awarded many times in international festivals, including the award for best scenario  at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

The film’s events are about a 6-year-old Kurdish child, Shiro, who lives in a small village located on the border line between Turkey and Syria in the 1800s.

It narrates social and human relations that existed before the coup of the Baath Party in Syria and horrors it practiced during the last fifty years that have brought human and structural devastation to Syria, according to the statements of those in charge of the work.

Mano Khalil was born in Syria and he directed many films, most have a political and social characteristic that imitate his country’s living reality.
