Third Israel airstrike shakes Syrian capital in week
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday at mid-night, Syrian capital Damascus went under a third Israeli missile attack during the current week.
State-run SANA News Agency cited a military source as saying, “Nearly at 00.30 Thursday, October 27st, 2022, the Israeli enemy carried out a missile aggression from the direction of the occupied Palestinian territories, targeting some posts in the vicinity of Damascus.”
The source said damages were limited to material losses only and that the Syrian Defense Forces intercepted the aggression and downed some missiles.
“At least four Israel missiles have hit areas around Damascus airport in the south-western Rif Dimashq, while loud explosions were heard in the area of Sayeda Zeinab and near Damascus airport,” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) cited sources as saying.
A soldier was slightly injured in an Israeli attack on the outskirts of the capital causing damages on October 24.
This comes few days after Israel targeted posts of Iranian and Syrian government forces close to Damascus.
On October 23, Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria revealed a YLC-6M radar of Air Defense and the runway of al-Dimas airport, west of Damascus, were destroyed in the attack.
Earlier on October 24, The Jerusalem Post cited officials in the Israeli Army as saying Israeli attacks destroyed 90% of Iran’s military infrastructure and aborted the Lebanese Hezbollah entrenchment in Syria.
