US-led coalition renews commitment to end ISIS
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the US-led Global Coalition renewed commitment to defeat Islamic State Organization (ISIS) at the third anniversary of neutralizing “ISIS’s brutal leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”
Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTFOIR) said on its Facebook account that the US-led Global Coalition will sustain pressure and not relent to “maintain the lasting defeat of ISIS.”
The CJTFOIR stressed, “We reaffirm our commitment to our anti-ISIS mandate alongside our partners & allies.”
On October 26 of 2019, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) supervised an airdrop operation implemented by US Special forces in the northern countryside of Idlib, northwestern Syria, against al- Baghdadi in a house.
The US forces said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) played a vital role in tracking down al-Baghdadi and his underwear was then DNA tested and used to prove his identity before he was killed.
Former US President Donald Trump said the Kurds provided “helpful” information but added that they had not carried out “a military role at all.”
“Our intelligence source was involved in sending coordinates, directing the airdrop, participating in and making the operation a success until the last minute,” Trump added.
