Coalition stresses commitment to fighting ISIS with SDF partners

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The US-led Global Coalition to Fight ISIS stressed on Wednesday their commitment to keep fighting against the terrorist group with their local partners in Syria: the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

On the fifth anniversary of the liberation of Raqqa city, which was called capital of the “caliphate” for ISIS, the US-led Coalition said that the alliance and SDF will “remain committed to targeting Daesh [ISIS] cells and preventing them from terrorizing communities.”

“Since January 2022, the SDF arrested more than 55 Daesh terrorists in Raqqa,” the Coalition said.

Between January and February 2022, the Coalition and SDF carried out a large-scale security operation in the city, which resulted arresting 27 militants of the extremist organization’s cells, the Global Coalition noted.

The Coalition added, “Hundreds of explosives and arms have been confiscated since the beginning of 2022,” and that more than 250 explosives have been removed, boosting security in Raqqa.
