Future Syria Party condemns Turkish attack killed Asayish member
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Future Syria Party condemned in a statement on Thursday a Turkish drone strike that killed a participant, a day earlier, in the commemoration ceremony of the party’s former co-chair Hevrin Khalaf in Derik, far northeast Syria.
On Wednesday, a Turkish drone targeted a vehicle carrying fighters affiliated with the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), while they were returning from the ceremony. The strike killed a fighter of the Syriac Security Office and injured others.
The Syriac Security Office, known as the Sutoro or the Sutoro Police, is a Christian Assyrian/Syriac police force operates in Jazira Region (Hasakah Governorate), run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and works in concert with the general Asayish.
The Turkish strikes against leaders and members of the Future Syria Party is part of Turkey’s ongoing war on the region, the statement said.
The statement added, “The continuous Turkish encroachments on the region violate international law and treaties.”
It also demanded Syrian parties and the international community to condemn Turkey’s attacks.
On October 12, 2019, Hevrin Khalaf was assassinated, along with two companions, by militants of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction during Turkey’s offensive on the cities of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in north and northeast Syria respectively.
