Russian An-26 plane avoids crash with US drones in Syria – Khmeimim

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Oleg Yegorov, Deputy Chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation said on Tuesday a Russian Antonov An-26 avoided crashing with two US drones in the northern airspace of Syria.

The incident occurred at 4.25 GMT on Monday during a Russian flight to provide Russian troops with military supplies, Yegorov added.

He pointed out that this is not the first time an incident like this occurs in the Syrian airspace, accusing the US forces of violating the “memorandum of understanding between the US and Russia on cooperation in the field of civil aircraft accident/incident investigation and prevention.”

The memorandum was initiated on September 2, 1998 between the two countries.
