Unknown attackers shoot dead SDF fighter in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost his life and another was wounded by unidentified attackers in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A military source from the village of Abu al-Natil of the district of Suwar in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor said unidentified attackers, riding a motorbike, targeted two SDF fighters with machineguns near fuel refineries in the vicinity of the town.

The source told North Press that the attack claimed the life of one SDF fighter and wounded the other, who was transformed to the military hospital in al-Omar Oil Field for treatment.

The wounded SDF fighter is in a good health condition, according to a doctor operating in the hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that the masked attackers managed to flee towards desert after the attack.

The countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnesses an increase in cases of assassination, targeting members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal leaders and civilians, despite the intensive security operations launched by the SDF.

Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Monday responsibility for targeting a military vehicle of the SDF in the town of Jazra Albuhamid, west of Deir ez-Zor.
