ISIS claims responsibility for targeting SDF in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Monday responsibility for targeting a military vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town, west of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement in which it said that ISIS militants targeted an SDF vehicle by IED on the main road in the town of Jazra Albuhamid in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in significant damage to the vehicle, and ISIS militants returned to their posts, the statement added.
The countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnesses an increase in cases of assassination, targeting members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal leaders and civilians, despite the intensive security operations launched by the SDF.
On September 25, unknown armed men, believed to be members of ISIS, kidnapped a man and his wife and killed them on charges of “practicing witchcraft” in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, a governorate eastern Syria.
On October 2, an SDF fighter was wounded by IED explosion in the town of Akidat, 20 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
