Soldier killed west of Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen killed on Saturday a soldier of Syrian government forces in Daraa Governorate, south Syria.

A local source told North Press that a soldier of the government forces was killed by unknown gunmen in the town of al-Yadudah in the western countryside of Daraa.

Unknown gunmen shot Ra’fat Hamdi al-Ahmad in town center. He was hospitalized, but he died, the source added.

Al-Ahmad, who hails from al-Yadudah, works within the ranks of the government forces on the outskirts of Damascus and was on vacation in his town when he was killed.

Since the Syrian government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis, amid the government’s failure to hold it under control.
