2 people killed in two incidents in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press)— A man was killed and the body of another was found on Saturday in two towns in the western countryside of Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press, “On Saturday morning, the so-called Ahmad Ali al-Masry was shot dead in the town of al-Shajarah in the western countryside of Daraa by unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle while he was on his way to work.”
Al-Masry works in livestock farming and as a bus driver in the town, according to the same source.
Similarly, a source from the town of Sahem al-Golan told North Press that residents found the body of a young man named Anwar al-Khatib on the road between the towns of Saham al-Jawlan and Tasil in the western countryside of Daraa.
Al-Khatib, who hails from the city of Nawa in northern Daraa, was shot dead, and the body showed signs of torture, the source said.
Since the Syrian government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis, amid the government’s failure to hold it under control.
