Government forces shelling targets opposition in Syria’s Idlib, Aleppo

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces renewed on Wednesday their shelling of areas held by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria.

Number of shells landed on the outskirt of a Turkish post west of Idlib.

Opposition military sources told North Press that the government forces renewed artillery and rocket shelling of Turkish-backed opposition factions also known as Syrian National Army (SNA) posts in the towns and villages of Sfuhen, Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Fleifel, and the outskirts of Kansafra, and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.

Number of shells landed on the outskirt of a Turkish post near the village of Kafir, west of Idlib. The sources added.

The sources pointed out that the government forces stationed at Damascus-Aleppo highway north of Maarat al-Numan, targeted with 9M133 Kornet ,a modern Russian man-portable anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), two cars from Deir Sunbul, south of Idlib, wounding a child.

The areas in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces, despite being part of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in March 2020, which stipulates a halt of military action in Idlib.
