First cholera cases recorded in IDP camps in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, health institutions in areas controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), northwest Syria, reported the first ever two cholera cases in IDP camps on the border with Turkey north of Idlib.

Early Warning Alert and Response System (EWARS) said, on its accounts, that the first ever two cholera cases were recorded in camps in Idlib.

A local source from the area told North Press that the aforementioned cases were reported in Kafr Lusin camps close to the border with Turkey in addition to suspected cases of which swabs were taken to be tested in competent centers.

Since the cholera outbreak, the toll of cholera has stopped at 39, 15 cases in Jarablus east of Aleppo with no deaths reported up to date, according to EWARS.

The EWARS calls on locals to abide by preventative instructions and to recourse to nearest health centers in case of acute diarrhea or vomiting.
