HTS prepares to reactivate crossing with Syrian government in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – HTS prepares to reactivate a highway with Syrian government-held areas in the countryside of Idlib Governorate.

A source of Crossings Administration in Salvation Government, the civil wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), said on Saturday that the HTS is studying the mechanism of reactivating Jabal al-Turkman crossing, in the countryside of Latakia Governorate, in addition to that of Idlib.

The process resulted from pressure by Turkey in light of the refusal of some leaders of the HTS, according to the source.

Another source of the HTS’ Salvation Government said that seven heavy vehicles were directed to begin the process of removing the earth berms separating the towns of Saraqib and Sarmin, east of Idlib, in a step to prepare the roads and rehabilitate the crossing’s building and its facilities.

Regarding to Jabal al-Turkman crossing, the HTS faces difficulty due to the crossing’s presence in Turkistan Islamic Party-held areas, an offshoot of the Uyghur Turkistan Islamic Party, and it is spread in areas in Idlib) that also refuses to open any crossing with the government.
