DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The governorate of Daraa, south Syria, recorded on Friday first case of cholera, following necessary analysis.
A medical source told North Press Daraa National Hospital recorded the first cholera infection after the infected person visited the hospital for necessary analysis.
Doctors took necessary procedures and quarantined the infected person in a special room, in addition to conducting additional analysis in order to begin treatment stages.
the doctors added that they told family of the infected person to do the necessary preventative analysis to confirm they are not infected, fearing the spread of the disease in the region.
Days ago, a section was opened in the Daraa National Hospital to deal with the cholera disease in light of its outbreak in other governorates, but the poor capability of the hospital makes it unable to receive many cases if the disease spreads, according to the medical source.
Daraa governorate witnesses deteriorating medical reality amid lack of adequate means in government hospitals and medical centers, and let alone recent migration of dozens of doctors in search of better job opportunities.
Media office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government announced on September 20 the recording of 253 new cholera infections in its held areas.
The total toll of death reached 23 cases disturbed in 20 in Aleppo, two in Deir ez-Zor and one in Hasakah.
