Syrian authorities seize drug shipment in its way to Jordon

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) Syrian government security authorities seized on Monday a shipment of Captagon pills while it was on its way to Jordanian border.

On August 27, the Jordanian army said it had thwarted a major smuggling operation of a drug shipment coming from Syrian territory.

A security source in Daraa Governorate, south Syria, told media outlets, “The concerned authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of Captagon pills while its was on its way towards the Jordanian border.”

The source said, “The shipment was hidden in a secret hideout prepared for this purpose in a private car,” the source said, adding that it was seized at one of the security checkpoints in the countryside of Daraa.

He added, “The suspects were arrested, and they are currently under investigation in preparation for their transfer to the judicial authorities.”
