Gunmen shoot SDF fighter to desth in Deir Ez-Zor

DIER EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A fighter of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost his life, on Thursday, in a shooting by unidentified gunmen in a town east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source of the SDF in the town of al-Shuhail, told North Press, “Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on a water truck for the SDF on the main road in the village of al-Tugeihi west of al-Shuhail.”

“The attack resulted in the driver Ahmad al-Harib to lose his life while the attackers fled away,” the source added.

Al-Harib descends from the town of al- Shuhail, according to the source.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

On September 14 2022,  the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility for targeting a military checkpoint of the SDF in a town east of Deir ez-Zor.

The ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement in which it said that the ISIS militants “targeted with machineguns an SDF checkpoint on the main road in the town of Ibriha in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.”
